Acer negundo 'Sensation'

Description: Fast-growing shade tree for extremely harsh sites that has year-round interest. Native to most of the country, but this variety is a seedless male clone that does not attract boxelder bugs. Slower, more controlled growth with improved branching structure. One of the few trees that is tolerant of alkaline soils and has red-orange fall color which fades to yellow. A good substitute for cottonwood or ash.
Ornamental Features: Nice rounded shape to the crown, medium green foliage, brilliant red fall color, seedless fruit.
Planting & Growing: Being a male clone, it does not produce fruit clusters. This is useful to prevent attracting the box elder bug, which feeds on the flowers of female trees. Prune in late winter/early spring to promote air circulation in the canopy. Easy to care for.
